Hello dear friends! I'm glad to be the first romanian beetle and bus owner registered on your forum. I live in Bucharest, we are 20-30 active beetle-lovers. Unfortunately, we do not speak bulgarian , I succesfully registered here because during Ceaushescu's regime we used to watch bulgarian TV - remember Studio X, Linda, Leka noch detza etc? - add i remember a little bulgarian.

Now, as the green card is included in our national car insurrance and crossing borders is easy , we'd like to organize some common beetle meetings, in Romania and/or Bulgaria. The nearest meeting for you, except Bucharest, is Bran, near the Bran Castle, in june. We kindly invite you!

Dude that's way too cool!!!Welcome to the Bulgarian forum...I didn't know that there were any VW Beetle fans in Romania..but know I know and I'm glad that there are people like you who put away any "balkan differences" and do not spit on the neighbour!!!Another thing that amazed me is that you used to watch Bulgarian TV during the socialism?!However that is not important right now.What is important is that we are now in the EU and can travel freely on both sides of the Danube ..so maybe one day we could make a Bulgarian-Romanian Vw Beetle meeting!!!

We have several shops in Bucharest where we can find parts, and we have also friends in Arad and Baia Mare, selling parts from Hungary. I'll talk with them to post here.
Yes, we used to look to your television (2 posts) because in the last years of Ceaushescu, we had only two hours of emmision during week-days and maybe 8 hours in week-end. And 3/4 of those 2 hours was ass-kissing to Ceaushescu. Even now you can find collective antennas in our blocks, but it's no more in function because almost everyone use cable tv. People says that in '87-'88, the speaker of the bulgarian TV said, at the beginning of the New Year program, in romanian: "Welcome, dear romanian and bulgarian viewers! "

Please tell me, do you know if in BG you have Trabi forum? In RO: www.trabi.ro/forum (I'm mihaiachi there). I have also 4 Trabi, the last one bought today, 100E, made in april '90. In june we'll go to Zwickau, it's the 50th aniversary of Trabi. In fact, I have 10 cars (4 Trabi, only one with papers OK, 3 beetles (2 papers OK), 1 bus, 1 Ford, 1 Moskwich (no papers) and 4 motorcycles- MZ ES 250 ('61-'62), IJ 56 ('61), and 2 romanian Mobra (50 cm3).
You asked me about spare parts. In BG you find parts? You have shops? In Bucharest you find mechanical parts (engine, brakes....) but body parts- only via Hungary.

Mmmhm! Nice! I notticed 2 "rat-look"- you can drive it in BG? In RO you will be stopped by the police in the first day... My beetle conquered "The nightmare beetle" prize in 2001, 2003 and 2005, but I can't drive it usually and pass technical inspection, even if technically the car is OK
Abd the trike? It's modified in BG or somewhere else? You can register easy such a vehicle build by you? Here- it's difficult. We have a friend who is building a Kubelvagen body, but I don't know how he will register it- I will sign his papers (I'm an automotive engineer) but i'm not optimist...

Later edit: some moderator, please change in MishuL and Tonic profiles the location: Bucharest. In the registration form, only bulgarian locations are avaible, but I see Radu Georgescu is from "Bucuresti", so- it's possible.

Hi! Unfortunatly in Bulgaria the registering of cars with technical modifications is also very hard. I have build a buggy and I still can't register it. It is possible with money under the table and good conections.
I will keep trying...
