Hi! Unfortunatly in Bulgaria the registering of cars with technical modifications is also very hard. I have build a buggy and I still can't register it. It is possible with money under the table and good conections.
I will keep trying...

Monday I'll go in the mountain with my wife and children. I have Mladost skies and Rila... I don't know the english name for the device betveen ski and skiboot. I bought all this in december 1990, in Sofia, with the money from selling 2,5 kg. of coffee . "Iskately coffee? Trinaiset (dvanaiset, ceternaiset, petnaiset) leva- dvosto petdisiet grami!" 17 years ago, bulgarian skies made under Atomic licence were very appreciate in RO. By the way- Pamporovo skifactory is still working?
I cross BG each year by bus, on my way to GR where I use to spend my hollydays (Halkidiki, Thassos, Paralia...)

The name of BG skies is Orion now, but in the factory can produce every model for 60-70 euros.

he wanted to ask you are there in RO any "privileges" so to speak, like dismisal from annual technical exams (don't have any idea how it's called by you)? 'cause in BG they have passed a bill recently to dismiss every vehicle built before '60 from this annual tech exams.
do you get anything at all for keeping a relics on the road? anything?

No, in RO technical inspection must be made each 2 years and the car must pass technical prescriptions according to the age- for egzample, for beetles, CO is 4,5%.
But we live in RO, RO in in Balcans, and there are many posibilities to solve the problem Last summer, I passed my motorcycle IJ 56 painted in black vith a mix of water, toner and glue- after 15 mins, half of the paint was on my pants . I had to paint it temporarly because the colour in the reg. card was black, and the bike is painted red and black

On may 26th i'll go to Thassos, Greece, driving my '77 VW bus. Departure: 6.oo in the morning, Bucharest. If somebody want to drink a beer together somewhere on my way across Bulgaria (Yyyyiiiupyyyy my wife will drive the bus for 2-3 hours after )... I'll be back 6-7 june, change cars and... And on the way down you will go through "Talgo beach" :






Prices in Sarti were 40 EUR for a double room per night.

I love that island. We (my wife, 2 chd.) were in Thassos last year, in Skala Prinos, by bus. Now we are going to Golden Beach. 99E for 8 days/7 nights, half board, without transport. I have lots of places to visit, last year I did not because we had a rented car (Fiat 500 than 600) and it was forbidden to enter non-asphalt roads, when we brought back the car they inspected under it for dust or dammages.
But it's true, Thassos can be boring for young but it's ideal to go with small children and you can find places to visit - Agios Panteleimon monastery with a little church in a cave, Archangel Michael monastery, the marble exploatation, Micros & Megalos Prinos, little isolated bays and beaches...

Thanks a lot, you are very kind, but I'm going almost each year in Greece, so it's no problem.
BUT... what about that beer, saturday, in Sofia?

I intend to buy some food in BG, both trips: go- to eat in GR, and back- to take home, I understand food is cheaper in BG... So I'll cross Sofia looking for supermarkets- Carrefour, Auchan, Metro or simillar.
What about gasoline? How much is it in BG and in GR? In RO it costs a little over 1 euro per liter....
